Finding Inner Peace

What I’ve come to know through the years of suffering from anxiety and worry is that I would rather have peace than be right…There is magic to be experienced when we let go of the struggle to be right and perfect. Can you remember the last time you felt inner peace? Who is bringing you into their struggle? What guilt are you carrying?....For years I longed to feel at peace with myself and my surroundings, throughout my adult life I seemed to have moved far away from the peace that I was seeking and into the depth of anxiety, with constant worry over money security and stress, with my inner and outer critics playing havoc with my mind. I was riddled with guilt and didn’t want the responsibility that I had accumulated in my job as well as to the need to live up to expectations of friends and family. I longed for freedom and escape and to start all over again…Feeling such disharmony lead me to take time out and to nourish from the inside I took up dancing, singing and Art and started to listen to my body, I found people whom were also on the same journey and found support in therapy and in just being and accepting where I was right now. Most importantly I paid attention to how I talked to myself   I let go of the nagging critical voice. I have learned over the years ways to get back to that feeling of inner peace and well-being and these are a few that I practice daily…

·         Let go of the guilt you are not responsible for everything
·         You are beautiful worthy and perfect.
·         Be grateful for what you have in this moment, we all have more than we think we have
·         Remove yourself from critical and judgmental people
·         Be very kind and nurturing to yourself spend time with people that lift your spirits
Do something creative….Mandalas are an expression of peace, harmony and wholeness and have been used as a  connection to our communities and to nature; the circle itself is a powerful symbol and is used in meditation to help make a deeper connection to ourselves to bring balance and harmony. This March there will be some wonderful workshops in meditate Art and Create using and making mandala Art with the Chakra energy system  for more detail and finding your inner peace join me at www.meditateartandcreate.com

The HE (ART) of Letting Go...

When we begin to realise our true dreams and desires the process of manifesting them can be a transforming period, one of letting go of the old and making space for the new.  Allowing yourself time to heal, clear and discover for yourself your true nature and let go of limiting beliefs and attitude, is a journey in itself of self-enquiry and expression, with those insightful moments thrown in!!  And one that will lead you closer to manifesting your dreams and desires as well as being the richest and beautiful gift you can give yourself.  Making this deeper connection to heart and soul with art and mandalas has been my journey and a beautiful connection to a higher source of energy for healing, a year after leaving my job, travelling, experiencing times of financial worry Art and meditation served as wonderful tool for releasing and making space for new projects and ideas.

As we are way into January 2014 the journey of letting go will always be on going, now with the second new moon of the month, this is a great time to find a quiet space and just meditate on letting go of that which is burdening heavy and not celebrating the power that you are!! Take a few minutes in the day to :-

Accepting who you are in this moment... draw a circle and fill with words shapes colours start with the phrase ‘where you are now’ work quickly to fill your space. Spend 10min and no more in this. Once completed spend a few minutes looking at the circle and send it love and light accepting who you are in this moment your dark and light side.

Gratitude Mandala: Draw another circle and write in this space all that you are thankful about. (As I have done this the list keeps on growing, so you may need a larger circle) you may want to thank the people in your life, your job, health, trees and so on it can be the small things as well as the big things. Once completed feel how much you already have in your life and the richness, with this feeling write a few positive affirmations, repeat them out aloud. This is very uplifting exercise and good to share with friends and family.
